Fire Safety Construction Advisory Council
promoting NC3 building systems
The Fire Safety Construction Advisory Council is a coalition of construction industry organizations formed in 2001 to promote the improvement of property protection and life safety in multi-family dwellings and similar structures through the concept of “balanced design” utilizing NC3 non-combustible concrete building construction. Our mission is accomplished through education and interaction with fire and building code officials as well as other appropriate audiences through seminars and a variety of other information and communication efforts.
As proponents of NC3, we are concerned about compromises related to fire safety that are included in building code provisions. The concept of balanced design incorporating the three elements of detection (alarms), suppression (sprinkler systems) and compartmentalization (wall & floor systems designed to halt the spread of fire) is a common sense strategy on which to base construction decisions. We believe it should be more fully incorporated into building code provisions to safeguard our citizens from the perils of fire.
